Day 1: Transfer from Kigali international airport to your hotel in Kigali.
Today, you will travel from Kigali International airport to your hotel in Kigali. Estimated travel time: 15 minutes (Heaven Boutique Hotel) Full board
Day 2: Transfer from Kigali to Akagera National Park.
Today, you will be transferred from Kigali to the stunning Akagera National Park.
Boat ride on Lake Ihema.
The boat ride on Lake Ihema will reward you with large number of hippos, huge Nile crocodiles and a variety of bird species.
For the bird-lover, you can be entertained by the majestic African fish eagles and the large concentration of water birds.
In the marshes, keep an eye out for the papyrus gonolek and the often sought-after shoebill stork, the cormorants and many more.
Akagera Game lodge(Full board)
Day 3: Game Drive in Akagera National Park.
It is named after the Akagera River that flows along its eastern boundary and feeds into a labyrinth of lakes of which the largest is Lake Ihema.
The forest fringed lakes, papyrus swamps, savannah plains and rolling highlands.
Combine to make Akagera amongst the most scenic of reserves anywhere in Africa.
It has exceptional levels of biodiversity and forms the largest protected wetland in central Africa.(Akagera Game lodge) Full board.
Day 4: Transfer from Akagera National Park to Volcanoes National Park
Spanning on a 160 sqkm area in the northern part of Rwanda, Volcanoes national park is part of the great Virunga volcano.
Conservation region spanning to cover Virunga national park Congo and Mgahinga national park Uganda.
It was initially a small area around Karisimbi, Mikeno and Bisoke volcanoes which was gazetted.
To protect the Mountain gorillas which were facing the threat of extinction as a result of poaching.
The transfer will take approximately 4h 30 min.(Mountain Gorilla view Lodge) full board.
Day 5: Golden Monkey trekking
Drive to Volcanoes national park at 06:30 am for Golden monkey trekking to start at 08:00am
There are two habituated groups of Golden Monkey, one group comprises around 80 – 100 members and has its home at the foot of Mt Sabyinyo.
As with treks to see the Mountain Gorillas, treks to see the Golden Monkeys take place in the mornings.
And visitors are permitted to stay for 1 hour with the monkeys.(Mountain Gorilla View lodge) Full board.
Day 6: Transfer from Volcanoes National Park to Nyungwe Forest National Park.
The drive takes you through small towns and villages and if interested.
You could also look out for several up country mass graves to learn more about the 1994 genocide. The transfer takes around 5 hrs.
Day 7: Chimpanzee tracking Nyungwe Forest National Park.
Nyungwe is home to one of East Africa’s last intact chimpanzee populations and boasts two wild chimp communities.
That welcome guests (one in Cyamdungo and other around Uwinka).
Thus, it’s not surprising that chimpanzee tracking is a popular activity in Nyungwe.
(especially when the park’s trees are in full bloom during the summer)
As well-trained guides often lead visitors through the park’s forests, and while actually viewing chimpanzees is not guaranteed.
You’ll enjoy learning about these creatures and their natural habitats from your guides.
But you’ll probably have to get up around 4 a.m. to succeed in this very challenging activity as chimps are mostly likely to be seen early in the morning.
Day 8: Canopy walk.
Hanging 60 metres above the forest floor between giant trees and towers.
East Africa’s only Canopy Walkway provides a stunning view of the park’s amazing wildlife and nature.
The Walkway is accessible as part of a specialised guided tour along the Igishigishigi trail or if you’re not part of a tour.

Day 9: Transfer back to the airport for your departure flight.
